CharitéUniversitätsmedizin Berlin, the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) have joined forces to construct a new research building at No. 10 Lindenberger Weg. Construction on the site which previously featured two buildings from the 1970s is ongoing. A new addition to Campus Berlin Buch, ‘Käthe-Beutler-Haus’ is set to be completed by late 2020. Named after the German pediatrician Käthe Beutler, the building will have a total floor space of approximately 2,500 m2 (26,900 ft2). In addition to laboratories and offices for approximately 135 researchers, the building will also feature areas designed to promote communication. The Berlin-Brandenburg boundary runs through the middle of the building.

BIH researchers will start to move into the building in 2020. They will be using the new facilities to develop innovative personalized treatments for chronic diseases and to ensure the prompt translation of basic research knowledge from bench to bedside.
