Charité signs ‘Gleichstellung gewinnt’ Equal Opportunities Charter

On 1 November 2018, Charité’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dr. Karl Max Einhäupl, and Berlin’s Senator for Health, Long-Term Care and Gender Equality, Dilek Kolat, formally signed the ‘Gleichstellung gewinnt’ [literally: equality wins] Charter. Forming part of the eponymously Berlin-based campaign to promote equality in the workplace, the formal signing, held in Friedrich-Althoff-Saal on Campus Charité Mitte (CCM), was also attended by Charité's Officer for Women's Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Dr. Christine Kurmeyer, and her deputy, Sabine Barleben. The Charter’s central aim is to promote the implementation of the concept of gender equality in the workplace and ensure it is reflected in all day-to-day interactions.


‘Charter for the Care of the Critically Ill and Dying’

‘The Charter for the Care of the Critically Ill and Dying’ (Charta zur Betreuung schwerstkranker und sterbender Menschen) is committed to protecting the interests of people who have progressive, life-limiting conditions and are nearing the end of their lives. With its five guiding principles, which set out the tasks, aims and actions required to improve the care of the critically ill and dying in Germany, the Charter places a clear focus on the needs of the critically ill and dying.
