Medicine and Dentistry

  • All German citizens and
  • Applicants from EU Member States,
  • Citizens of Lichtenstein, Norway and Iceland,
  • Foreign nationals with a German high school qualification (Abitur) obtained either in Germany or at a German School Abroad ('Bildungsinländer/Bildungsinländerinnen'),
  • Applicants who are not nationals of an EU Member State, Norway, Iceland or Lichtenstein, but whose family members do fall into this category (first-degree relatives) and are employed in Germany,

must submit their applications to the 'Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung (SfH)’ (the body responsible for admissions to higher education). Please note this centralized application service is reserved for courses with entrance requirements/restrictions (numerus clausus), i.e. either Medicine or Dentistry.

German citizens with dual nationality must apply as a German national.

Proof of German language proficiency is to be submitted at the point of matriculation. For further information, please click here.

Medicine and Dentistry courses do not offer special admission quotas for 'minors' (in this context, 'minors' refers to applicants who are under 19 years of age at the time of applying). For information pertaining to applicants not belonging to any of the above-named categories, please click here.
