Information for students on the Traditional and Revised Medical Curriculum programs

The introduction of the New Revised Medical Curriculum coincides with the discontinuation of both the Traditional and Revised Medical Curriculum programs. As a result, the number of course modules and seminars offered as part of these two programs has gradually declined.

In spite of this, all students at Charité currently enrolled on either the Traditional or the Revised Medical Curriculum program are able to continue to the end of their course.

As stipulated in section 19, Inkrafttreten, Übergangsregelung [Commencement, Temporary Provisions], of the New Revised Medical Curriculum Degree Regulations:

Article 19, Paragraph 3: The Degree Regulations for the Traditional Medical Curriculum program at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin dated 18th March 2003 shall apply to all students enrolled on the Traditional Medical Curriculum program (Freie Universität Berlin, Official Bulletin  No. 54/2003). These students shall be entitled to continue their current course of study for another 2 semesters.

Article 19, Paragraph 4: The Degree Regulations for the Revised Medical Curriculum program at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin dated 29th September 2003 shall apply to all students enrolled on the Revised Medical Curriculum program (Freie Universität Berlin, Official Bulletin No. 55/2003). Subsection 3.2 applies accordingly.

Intense discussions are currently underway regarding the possibility of extending the current period of two semesters, but no official decision has been made.

On behalf of the Faculty, the Vice Dean would like to assure students that the Traditional and Revised Medical Curriculum programs will continue throughout the remainder of this period, and that course quality will be maintained at the current standard or a higher standard. Quality improvement measures will continue to be developed and implemented, and these shall apply equally across all courses offered.
