Application procedures vary widely. As a result, all of the relevant information is arranged by subject. 

 

You will also find useful information and guidance on applying without a high school diploma (Abitur), as well as on doctoral degrees and inter-university transfers.

Advice and guidance

Medicine and Dentistry

Admissions for medicine and dentistry are administered through the 'Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung' (SfH), the body responsible for admissions to higher education.

German nationals, as well as

  • Applicants from EU Member States,
  • Nationals of Lichtenstein, Norway, and Iceland,
  • Foreign applicants with a German high school qualification (Abitur) obtained in Germany or at a German school abroad
  • Applicants who are not nationals of an EU Member State, Norway, Iceland, or Lichtenstein, but whose family members fall into this category and are employed in Germany,

must submit their application for courses with entrance requirements (numerus clausus) to  the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung (SfH)., the body responsible for admissions to higher education.

 

German nationals with dual nationality must apply as a German national. 

The HAM-Nat test (natural sciences-based aptitude test) for courses beginning in the summer semester 2017 is scheduled to take place on 15. February 2017.

In recent years, all candidates applying for medicine and dentistry had their places allocated through the 'Hochschulstart' university admissions process. Should you still wish to apply via the random selection process, please send your application to the address below:

Application by foreigners (except for EU citizens and foreign permanent residents)

Applications for the above mentioned study programs are processed by Uni-Assist (Arbeits- und Servicestelle für internationale Studienbewerbungen e.V.). There is an application fee. More information can be found at www.uni-assist.de.

Applicants with confirmed refugee status should note the following regarding the application process using Uni-Assist e.V.
The verification of qualifications and certificates by Uni-Assist is conducted free of charge if the applicant...

  • Can provide confirmation of their 'registered refugee' status

And:

  • Successfully completed the TestAS-Test scholastic aptitude test at a Uni-Assist member university. Please note that CharitéUniversitätsmedizin Berlin is unable to issue official fee-waiver certificates for the Uni-Assist e.V. application process.
