Krithika Hariharan, doctoral student at the Berlin-Brandenburg School for Regenerative Therapies (BSRT), has been crowned winner of this year's Charité Science Slam, which was held as part of the Long Night of the Sciences.

Her presentation, which was entitled 'Once upon a time... Life' (Es war einmal... Das Leben), used her own life story to describe the life cycle of stem cells. The competition consisted of three separate sessions, each comprising three to four competitors from the fields of immunology, regenerative medicine, and neuroscience. The winners of each of the subject-specific sessions qualified for the chance to fight it out during the final. At the end of the evening, it was the audience who decided on the winner via applause, the longest and loudest of which was given to Krithika Hariharan and her presentation from the field of regenerative therapies.
