The European Research Council (ERC)
The European Research Council is a highly prestigious institution which was established by the European Commission to support and promote basic research endeavors. The ERC uses five distinct funding schemes to support researchers throughout their careers, from early-career researchers to established researchers. Outstanding researchers of any nationality and from any scientific discipline can apply for funding through annual open calls which evaluate candidates solely based on scientific excellence.
Charité will make an excellent research location and offers an optimal institutional setup for the successful delivery of your ERC project. If you are planning to submit an application with Charité as the host institution, or if you are considering transferring your ERC project to Charité, you will be able to benefit from the broad spectrum of support Charité has to offer.
Support from the Faculty
Charité aims to provide optimal support to all ERC grantees, both during the application stage and throughout the lifetime of the project. In addition to expert advice, Charité also offers financial incentives to ERC projects. If you successfully secure a funding award, Charité will for example finance a proportion of your salary and co-fund the project. You might also have the opportunity of qualifying for a W2 Professorship at Charité.
