Charité solidifies top position in Times Higher Education University Rankings 2023

Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin secured position 26 of 1,001 universities scored in the global Times Higher Education (THE) World University Subject Ranking 2023 “Clinical and Health” category, rising six ranks from the last THE Ranking and again ranking first among the medical faculties in Germany. The Times Higher Education Ranking is acknowledged as one of the leading rankings of higher education worldwide.


ASPIRE - award for excellence in medical education

Charité receives the ‘ASPIRE Award for Excellence in Curriculum Development’

Awarded by the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), the ASPIRE Award is issued in recognition of the pioneering conceptual framework underpinning the New Revised Medical Curriculum (Modellstudiengang Medizin) at Charité.


Following completion of the relevant audits, Charité has been awarded the certificates ‘family-friendly employer’ (audit berufundfamilie®) and ‘family-friendly university’ (audit familiengerechte hochschule®).

Charité was first awarded the 'family-friendly employer' certificate in 2007.

The German weekly news magazine Focus has again awarded Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin the top spot in its ‘the 100 best German hospitals’ rankings for the eleventh year running.


Horizon 2020

Charité has been the most successful German institution involved in the ‘Health, demographic change and wellbeing’ societal challenge work program.

According to an analysis by the Health NCP (National Advisor for Horizon 2020), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin compared favorably with both national and international competitors in terms of access to and participation in projects funded under the Horizon 2020 framework program.

Where would medical students prefer to work? According to the latest Student Survey, conducted by the international research and consultancy services provider Universum, medical and health care students perceive Charité as the most attractive employer within the German health care sector.
