Virtual Liver Network

Virtual Liver is a major national initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) following HepatoSys. The project was launched in 2010 with the objective to explore the physiology and functionality of the liver at different scales (cellular, intercellular, lobular and organ level) with the integration of these scales into a "virtual liver".

Work Packages (WPs)

WP A1 Cellular metabolism
WP A2 Integration of signaling pathways in hepato-cellular responses (cellular signaling)

WP B Communication of hepatocytes and non-parenchymal liver cells (cell-cell-communication)
WP C Liver lobule
WP D Whole organ
