SFB TRR 43: "The brain as a target of inflammatory processes" is hosting an international symposium 3rd - 5th June, 2010 at the lovely Inselhotel in Potsdam-Hermannswerder. The symposium will bring together key researchers from around the world and the SFB project groups for three days of discussion on this critical area of research. Attendance is free, however, we kindly ask that participants register by filling out the online registration. It should also be noted that symposium registration does not include on-site accommodation. SFB-TRR 43 is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). It comprises basic and clinical neuroscience groups and gathers groups with a strong focus on inflammatory processes within the CNS. We have included both neuroimmunologists working on inflammation of the brain and neurobiologists investigating pathological disorders in which inflammatory mechanisms have only recently been acknowledged to play a role. The specific innovative potential of the present initiative is based on the close link between inflammation and neurodegeneration, irrespective of the strict separation between primary inflammatory or degenerative brain disorders. Elucidating common pathogenetic mechanisms promoting neurodegeneration, independent of the underlying disease, as well as the clarification of different disease-specific pathways is thought to guide the development of novel therapeutic approaches for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. |
