Emily Ngubia Kuria is a member of the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Charité, University School of Medicine Berlin since January 2010. She studied Physics at the University of Nairobi in Kenya (BSc) and Neuroscience (MPhil) at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA/ISAS) Trieste, Italy. Ngubia also has credits in gender studies from the Transdisciplinary School of Gender Studies at the Humboldt University Berlin (2008/2009). She is now an associate member of the Graduate School for Gender Studies “Gender as a category of Knowledge” at the Humboldt University Berlin http://www2.hu-berlin.de/gkgeschlecht/stip.php#Emily.
Emily recently graduated with a diploma from Singularity University (GSP11) located at NASA Ames research Park, where she and 79 others learned about exponentially growing technologies and how to leverage these to solve humanities’ greatest challenges.
A scholarship from the Schlumberger Foundation, Faculty for the Future program (FFTF) supports the completion of her Doctoral studies supervised by Prof. Dr. Volker Hess.

Emily Ngubia Kuria ist seit Januar 2010 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Geschichte der Medizin der Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Sie studierte an der Nairobi Universität Kenia mit dem Abschluss Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physik. Es folgte ein Masterstudium (Mphil) in der Neurowissenschaft an der Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA/ISAS) Trieste, Italy. Thema der Masterarbeit war „Damaged access and spared mental representation of the body: A single case study”, betreut von Professor Raffaella Rumiati.
Sie verfolgt ihr Promotionsprojekt zum Thema Geschlecht aus neurowissenschaftlicher Perspektive, was sie auch noch um Gender Politik erweitert hat. Sie ist Mitglied am Zentrum für Transdisziplinäre Geschlechterforschung der Humboldt-Universität Berlin, wo sie 2008/2009 am Gender Studies Program teilgenommen hat. Seit Januar 2009 ist sie assoziiertes Mitglied des Graduiertenkollegs „Geschlecht als Wissenskategorie“ an der Humboldt Universität Berlin, http://www2.hu-berlin.de/gkgeschlecht/stip.php#Emily.
Das Promotionsstipendium der Schlumberger Foundation, Faculty for the Future program (FFTF) hat sie bis jetzt bei ihrer Dissertation unterstützt. Sie wird von Prof. Dr. Volker Hess betreut.
