The institute comprises two divisions:
the division of Clinical Pharmacology and the division of Toxicology.

Grant support ("Drittmittel") is obtained, among others, from the DFG (German Society for the Advancement of Scientific Research), the BMBF (Federal Ministry for Education, Science, Research and Technology), the BMG (Federal Ministry for Health), the European Community, and the industry. Members of the institute take up a leading position in the following research projects supported by the DFG and the BMBF:

• DFG-Research Group 341: "Mechanisms and Pathomechanisms of Vascular Regulation"
