This course has been on offer since the winter semester of 2009/2010 and is run in cooperation with the
Robert-Koch-Institute (RKI). The aim of this course is to teach methodic approachs, theory, skills and experience that are essential for a career in the field of epidemiology and the prevention of infection in the German and European public health sector. One outstanding aspect about the Masters Course in Applied Epidemiology is the fact that epidemiological methods are directly applied to current public health issues. Characteristic is that graduates are strongly encouraged to use the methods learnt to study independently under close expert supervision. Although the course is practice orientated, the teaching of essential theoretical fundamentals compliment practical training. The modules of this course are offered partly in cooperatioon with the
European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) which takes place in numerous EU countries.
