Conflict management

Consultation, curricula, good parenting of promotions and postgraduate research prevents many, but does not avoid all conflicts.

Complaints about poor mentoring, unfair authorship proposals and fraud allegations are first discussed with the elected ombudspersons. They attempt by counseling and mediation to resolve conflicts. If this is not possible, the Faculty Board decides on the establishment of an investigation commission without delay.

The investigation of allegations of fraud occurs in the tension of the rights of the accused (presumption of innocence, the right of rehabilitation after falsified allegations) on the one hand, and the right of society and the scientific community on rapid notification of fraud on the other hand. The investigation of fraud is carried out in coordination with the DFG and external experts.
