Self-blood donation
Prior to planned operations with a 10% possibility of requiring a blood transfusion, it is often advisable to store patient blood so that ,if needed, the blood can be re-transfused into the original patient, minimizing the need to use foreign blood. Your treating physician will inform you about self-blood donating during your hospital stay. The self-blood donation at the Charité Campus Mitte occurs at the Institute for Transfusions Medicine on Luisenstraße 6-8. For more information, please visit

Shopping on the Campus Benjamin Franklin
A small flower shop is located on the ground floor of the main building, across the Cafeteria, near the Entrance West.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm.
In the Kiosk across from the Cafeteria, on the ground floor of the main building, near the Entrance West you can purchase newspapers, magazines, books, drinks, and snacks.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7 am to 6:30 pm; Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 8 am to 5 pm
Vending machines with drinks and snacks are located in the North entrance hall.
Shopping on the Campus Charité Mitte
Flowers can be purchased across from the main hospital bed building on Luisenstraße.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 6:30 pm, Saturday 11 am to 5 pm, Sunday 11 am to 4 pm.
Books can be purchased on Luisenstraße across from the main hospital bed building at the entrance to the Campus.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday 11 am to 3 pm.
Toiletries, cosmetics, newspapers, magazines, and snacks are available in the lobby of the main hospital bed building.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6 am to 7 pm; Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 8 am to 6 pm.

Shopping on the Campus Virchow-Klinikum
Kiosk the Glashalle, Mittelallee 10. Here you can find newspapers, magazines, drinks, and snacks.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7 am to 7 pm, Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 4 pm.
Vending machines with drinks and snacks are located in various buildings throughout the campus.
Smoking
Due to safety and health reasons, smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas except for designated smoking rooms and outside the buildings.
Social services
In addition to medical and nursing care, we offer our patients are offered social services and support. For example, you can receive information on age-appropriate living accommodations, assisted living, and therapeutic living communities. In addition, information about in-home nursing care, medical and work-related rehabilitation, social welfare services, and nursing insurance. Please inform our staff or call one of the numbers below:

Students
