Letters, Mailboxes, and Stamps

The nursing staff at your station distributes your mail during your stay. If you wish to mail something, please provide the nursing staff with your stamped mail. Stamp machines and mailboxes are available on every Campus:

Campus Benjamin Franklin: Mailboxes and stamp machines are located near the North entrance hall. In the post office Campus Benjamin Franklin, there is a copy machine.
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 7 am to 4 pm, Friday to 3 pm.

Campus Charité Mitte: Mailboxes are located in the lobby of the main hospital bed building and at the main ambulatory care entrance on Luisenstraße 13. A stamp machine is located in the lobby of the main hospital bed building.

Campus Virchow-Klinikum: Mailboxes and stamp machines are located near the chapel on Mittelallee.

Libraries

The Charité has special libraries for patients and visitors with a large selection of reading material.

Location: ground floor, near main entrance north, across from the chapel
Selection: books, newspapers, board games, CDs, DVDs and videos. With a refundable deposit, you can also borrow a walkman or a CD-player. Our foreign patients can choose from a literature selection in 16 languages, from Arabic to Turkish. If you cannot personally visit the library, you can call the library to see if a certain book is available and the book will be brought to your hospital room. In addition, there is a regular book cart that visits every station once a week. The library also has a chess computer and a PC with an internet connection. Selection: books, newspapers, CDs, DVDs and videos. Large selection of foreign literature. A book cart visits the following hospital stations on a regular basis:
Monday: Dermatology clinic and Surgery clinic
Tuesday: ENT and Clinic for Internal Medicine
Wednesday: Orthopedic Clinic, Neurology and Pediatric clinic
Thursday: Women’s clinic and Nerve clinic
Friday: Urological Clinic

Children and Youth Library “Bücherhöhle"
Weekly changing opening hours: Tuesday or Thursday 1:15 pm to 2:55 pm. For more details please give us a call.
Location: "Schulpavillon 20", Mittelallee 7A, ground floor near the entrance Seestraße.
Children who cannot leave their hospital station can access books through the book cart every Tuesday and Thursday.
Please remember to return any borrowed materials before you are discharged from the hospital.

Lost and found

If you have lost or forgotten an item during your stay at our hospital, you may check with either the security desk or one of our lost and found offices.

Lost items can be either deposited or picked up around the clock at one of the following locations:

Campus Benjamin Franklin: North entrance (Nordrampe) at the security desk.
Campus Virchow-Klinikum: Lehrgebäude (local address: Forum 3) at the security desk
Campus Charité Mitte: Hospital Tower (Bettenhaus) at the security desk of the information counter.

At the Virchow Lehrgebäude on Campus Virchow-Klinikum (local address: Forum 3, postal address: Augustenburger Platz 1, 13354 Berlin), at room no. 1.0205, lost items can be picked up on Tuesdays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m either personally or by a designated person.  The lost and found office can be reached either by phone (+49 30 450 573 600)  or by email.  To prove that the item you wish to pick up is actually yours, please bring with you either a contract, user manual, detailed description of the lost item or content or, in the case of lost keys, identical second keys.  Please also bring identification (personal I.D. or passport) with you.  If you cannot come in person, please make sure that the person you send also carries identification plus a letter of authorization from you.

Items will be kept at the Lost and Found for one month and will then be forwarded to the Central Lost and Found Office of Berlin.
