
On the campus Virchow Clinic the building of the former dental clinic was restored, with funding of the economic stimulus package II of the Federal Government; Thereby creating another centre of research expertise at the Charité, projected project completion in 2012.
The new two-storey building will house seminar rooms and offices. First users of the rooms will be an excellence project of the Charité, the postgraduate's school of Berlin Brandenburg School of regenerative Therapies (BSRT) as well as the research centre of the same name. In the coming year the institute of human genetics and the Julius Wolff institute will hopefully be added.
The heart of the system is a laboratory organized according to the so-called "GMP standard", the highest security level. Among other areas of expertise, modern cancer drugs should be developed in future.
