
The CharitéCenter 11 for Cardiovascular Diseases specializes in conservative, interventional and operative therapies for all types of cardiovascular diseases. The Center has two departments, one located on Campus Benjamin Franklin and the other on Campus Charité Mitte.
The Departments of Cardiology have extensive experience in the treatment of critically ill patients who require critical care management as well as in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias with ablation procedures. A special focus of the department is the treatment of pulmonary carcinomas and pulmonary hypertension.
The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery performs by-pass operations, surgical correction of heart valve defects and surgery of congenital heart defects. The department has the most extensive experience world-wide with the implantation of stentless aortic valves and their research focuses on the development of surgical products and methods and the clinical application of tissue engineering.
Since 2004, the Department has been collaborating in the DFG (German Research Foundation)-funded Transregional Research Center: “Inflammatory Cardiomyopathy - Pathogenesis and Therapy.
