Training of Complementary Skills
One aspect of cortex training is geared towards skills of common importance to all young scientists planning a career in this field. They will be taught as part of the two one-week sessions, one of which will immediately precede or follow the PhD symposium. These sessions will be organized by the participating neuroscience schools in rotation.
The topics have been chosen based on existing expertise at each partner and include, among others, posters and presentations, statistics, scientific writing, grant writing. Special attention will be given to ethics in neurosciences. Not only because animal models are commonly used in this field, but because our goal is to find new treatment for neurodegenerative diseases like stroke, Alzheimer’s or Parkinson, which will require patient studies as well. As one of the leading university hospitals in Europe, Karolinska is especially adept for this sort of training.
