for research on metabolism and action of novel thyroid hormones and their metabolites such as thyronamines and thyroacetic acids. Thyroid hormones are key regulators of energy metabolism, growth, and development, with major influence on maintenance of body weight. Impact of thyroid hormones and their novel metabolites on obesity and energy metabolism is of high current interest in molecular and cellular endocrinology. The project is also linked to the recently prolonged DFG Clinical Research Group KFO218-2 and the DFG graduate programme GK1208, both focussing on energy metabolism and body weight control in the well funded interdisciplinary Institute of Experimental Endocrinology at Charité, Berlin.
