student research projects, bachelor, master and diploma theses

concerning topics such as fluid mechanics, medical engineering, and biotechnology. There is a possibility of being paid. The main research topics of the laboratory are (amongst others):

  • Developement of Artificial Heart Assist Systems,
  • Flow Analysis in Artificial and Natural Heart Valves,
  • Numerical Flow Simulation,
  • Analysis of the Correlation of Atherosclerosis with Flow,
  • Bioreactors,
  • Flow in Microcapsules,
  • Device Design,
  • Flow Analysis in Multiphase Flows,
  • Improvement and Application of Flow Measurement Techniques (e. g. PIV),
  • non-invasive blood pressure measurement and
  • percutaneous devices (catheter, endo-exo-prostheses, etc.) and associated microbial infections (biofilms).

If you are interested, please feel free to call Ulrich Kertzscher at his office (+49 30 450 553838) or write an E-Mail to
